A fat burning product that relies heavily on stimulants. Shred FX has just as many cons as it does pros. Read the review to find out if it should be a product for consideration.

Shred FX

In a nutshell: Like too many other weight management supplements, Shred FX is overly reliant on stimulants. That’s not good. Stimulants can boost metabolism and increase fat burning, but there are better ways to do it.

Shred FX is only available to buy in Australia.

If you are looking for a fat burning either to lose a few pounds / kg or as a serious fat loss supplement then look no further than PhenQ

What is Shred FX

Shred FX is a powder-type weight management supplement aimed at people who need to lose weight. It contains a combination of vitamins, minerals, amino, acids, and herbal extracts.

The good news is, Shred FX comes in a choice of three flavors. The bad news is, some customers say they taste pretty rotten. The options are mango margarita, popsicle, and strawberry watermelon.

According to the marketing material, Shred FX is a cut above other fat burners. Apparently, it’s an “innovative multi-dimensional weight management support formula” that has unique features tradition fat burners do not.

Shred Fx tubs

Potential customers are told the formulation may:

  • Assist the fat breakdown process and allow you to use fat for energy
  • Suppress your hunger and reduce cravings
  • Enhance your resting metabolic rate so you can burn calories faster
  • Boost cognitive function and benefit your mood so you can train harder
  • Boost energy to help you push harder and get superior results
  • Increase performance to give you greater speed and reaction times

If you are thinking there are other products that may do these things, you are right. I’ve seen them too.

Marketing is all about making products sound good. Shred FX sounds good. Job done. However, I’m not really seeing anything that makes this fat burner stand out from the crowd.

The other thing to notice is the impressive sales pitch only says the product may do these things. If I buy a Mega Millions lottery ticket I may become a millionaire, that doesn’t mean that I will.

Who Makes Shred FX?

Shred FX is one of several supplements manufactured by Genetix Nutrition. The company was founded by the former Australian bodybuilder, Grant Mayo. He’s also the man behind the Nutrition Warehouse online store.

Grant introduced his line of supplements due to a desire to help people attain peak physical condition, but he doesn’t come up with the formulations alone. He has an internal research team to help him with that.

What Do the Ingredients Do?

As you can see, this is a pretty busy blend. All the inclusion rates are there though, and it’s easy to see what’s going on.

If you have any knowledge about supplement ingredients, you may have already noticed the formulation contains several stimulants.

The caffeine content alone is rather high. It’s 275 mg. If you were drinking regular coffee, you’d need to drink the best part of three cups to get a dose like that.

If I were in the market for a fat burner, I think I’d prefer one with less stimulants and more green tea.

Let’s take a quick look at the ingredients one by one.

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine

This ingredient provides the amino acid tyrosine. It’s often used for increasing alertness and/or improving memory and learning. [1]

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

An acetylated form of the amino acid L-Carnitine. The ingredient is sometimes used as an energy booster but you’ll find it in many nootropic formulations too.

Theobroma Cacao Extract

This ingredient provides theobromine. It the alkaloid that’s often said to be responsible for the feel-good effect associated with chocolate.

Natural Caffeine

Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system. It’s good for improving mental focus, boosting energy levels, and fighting fatigue.  You’ll find it included in any number of different weight loss formulations because it boosts metabolism. This helps you to burn extra calories. However, the dose is often considerably less than you’re seeing here. [2]

L-Carnitine-L-Tartrate

Another ingredient that provides L-Carnitine.

KSM-66

KSM 66 is a brand of ashwagandha extract. Ashwahganda is a popular medicinal herb. Some people use it as a stress reducer. It may also be good for boosting male testosterone levels. Ashwagandha has many additional uses as well. [3]

Coleus Forskohlii (10%)

Coleus forskohlii is a plant. Supplement manufacturers use extracts taken from the roots. The active compound is forskolin. Genetix Nutrition is using an extract that’s standardized to be 10% forskolin. Although it’s not one of the most commonly used supplement ingredients, coleus forskohlii appears to have potential in several areas including weight loss and muscle growth.

Blue Vervain

This ingredient comes from a flowering plant. I don’t see it being used a lot. It’s said to have value is numerous areas but the truth is there’s no evidence to support it use

Green Tea Extract

Green tea contains catechin antioxidants that help rid the body of toxins and support good health. It’s a go-to ingredient within the diet pill industry because it boosts metabolism and helps you to burn more calories.

Synephrine

A powerful stimulant that comes from the bitter orange species of citrus fruit. Its often used as a fat burning ingredient.

Octopamine

A second stimulant that’s extracted from the bitter orange species of fruit. It may not be a good idea to combine octopamine with other stimulants. Some sources suggest doing so may entail side effects. If you are a competing athlete, you also need to be aware octopamine appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency 2019 Prohibited List.

Niacin

Niacin is Vitamin B3. It assists energy metabolism so it’s often included in pre-workout supplements. Bodybuilders sometimes supplement with niacin to improve their vascularity.

LeanGBB

A branded form of Gamma-Butyrobetaine Ethyl Ester. It’s a precursor to carnitine. Yep! I know what you’re thinking: Shred FX already contains two forms of carnitine. I don’t see the point of this inclusion either.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is an energy drink ingredient. It helps your body extract energy from food.

Folic Acid

Folic acid is another name for Vitamin B9. It aids DNA production along with numerous other biological functions.

Vitamin B12

Like Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 is a popular energy drink ingredient that can help you get more energy out of your food.

Dosage and Usage Guidelines

The initial dose is one scoop of powder mixed with 200 ml of water. You need to take it on an empty stomach, 15-30 minutes before eating your breakfast.

Presuming there are no side effects during the first two days of use, it’s permissible to take two doses per day from day three onward. You take the second dose five to six hours after dose number one. It’s important never to take more than two scoops in any 24-hour period.

Some supplements can be taken week after week without issue. Genetix Nutrition does not recommend using Genetix Nutrition in this way. The company states a four-week break is necessary after every eight weeks of use.

Products that have to be cycled in this way won’t be the best option for you if you need long-term weight loss support.

Shred FX Customer Reviews

If you go to the Genetix website looking for Shred FX customer reviews, you may not find any. I never did, but the option to leave feedback is there.

Nutrition Warehouse has some feedback though. The problem is, Grant Mayo owns that company as well. I like to see feedback placed at sites that have nothing to do with the products on sale. Unfortunately, in this case, I could not find any at all.

Nutrition website only has 25 reviews. That’s not a lot. However, all of them are good.

Shred FX Side Effects

Genetix Nutrition issues a warning pointing out the formulation is unsuitable for women who are pregnant or nursing a child. The company also states Shred FX is not intended for people under 18-years of age.

It’s not just caffeine though. This product contains several other stimulants as well. It may prove to be too much for a lot of people.

If you have any existing health problems or would need to use Shred FX alongside medication, I suggest you ask a doctor for advice before using this product.

Review Conclusion (Does This Supplement Work?)

Like too many other weight management supplements, Shred FX is overly reliant on stimulants. That’s not good. Stimulants can boost metabolism and increase fat burning, but there are better ways to do it.

Stimulant-driven formulations may cause a lot of people to be hit with side effects. People who have a high tolerance probably won’t have any problems but, because their bodies are so used to stimulants, the level of benefit provided may be pretty low.

Will Shred FX give you more energy? Unless you are a seasoned, hardcore stimulant user, it probably will. However, when it comes to appetite and craving control, this probably won’t do a lot. The formulation doesn’t contain any of top natural appetite suppressants.

Shred FX Buying Options and Considerations

You can only buy Shred FX if your delivery address is in Australia. If it is, you have the option of buying Shred FX from the Genetix website or Grant Mayo’s online supplement store, Nutrition Warehouse. Grant’s products are also available to buy in many Australian stores.

Shred FX generally retails for AUD 39.95. At the time of this review, that was around 29 bucks plus a few cents. That doesn’t sound too bad, does it? However, if you are taking two scoops per day, you will be using a couple of tubs a month. That’s going to double the price.

In all probability, It’s likely that you will need to take two scoops per day. One is unlikely to provide you with sufficient support.

Customers who wish to do so have the option of paying for their purchase using Afterpay. This is an Australian initiative that allows people to pay for their online purchases in four installments instead of paying the full price up front.

Guarantee and Returns Policies

Genetix Nutrition offers a 60-Day Product Guarantee, but don’t get too excited. It’s not as good as it sounds. The “product guarantee” is only a returns policy. It will only work if you haven’t opened your Shred FX and given it a go.

Genetix Nutrition also offers a second guarantee and it does cover opened products. It’s called the 30-Day Flavor and Performance Guarantee.

Customers who buy any Genetix Nutrition product and don’t like the way it tastes or performs can return it and ask for an exchange product. If they don’t want an alternative product they can have store credit instead.

The Genetix Nutrition Flavor and Performance Guarantee is only valid if you have used five scoops of powder or less.

The dictionary states a guarantee is a formal promise or assurance (typically in writing) that certain conditions will be fulfilled. So, technically, these are both guarantees. However, neither one is the type of guarantee customers expect when they buy supplements.

The best guarantee is a money-back guarantee and many of the top supplement manufacturers offer this type of guarantee.

A money-back guarantee allows you to get your money back if a supplement fails to do the things it’s meant to do. It’s likely to be less shipping costs, but you still get most of your money returned to your card.

I can think of several respected weight loss products that have a 60-day money-back guarantee and allow customers to use the product for a month and then ask for a refund (if they feel this is warranted).

Store credit is not a refund. The supplier still has your money. The same can be said for a product exchange.

So, although Shred FX has two guarantees, neither one of them blows me away.
