Europe's oldest mummy, Ötzi the Iceman (also known as Frozen Fritz or Similaun Man) was found in the Schnalstal
glacier in the Ötzal Alps on the border between Austria and Italy. He is believed to have been born around 3300 b.c.
and died sometime around the age of forty-five. His body was so well preserved that scientists were able to
determine what he ate before he died, cause of death, his health prior to his death and the materials used to
make his clothes and shoes.
