Born an Archduchess of Austria, Marie Antoinette became Queen of France at the age of fifteen. Although some modern historians say her extravagant lifestyle is more folklore than truth, Marie Antoinette was known for her ornate lifestyle complete with parties, theatrics, gambling and lavish clothing. For most of Marie Antoinette's reign, she was largely unpopular. At the height of the French Revolution she was executed by guillotine due to charges of treason.
