Few people on earth would deny the fact that somehow, somewhere in the distant past we all hail from
common ancestors. But many are shocked at genetic scientists' recent findings (using DNA analysis) that
prove these common relationships aren't as far back – or as distant – as one might first think.
An entirely new field of technology is being pioneered to unlock these connections. Called "molecular
genealogy" (or "genetic genealogy"), it combines the best traditional genealogical information with
cutting-edge DNA analysis. The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF), an early leader in molecular
genealogy, is pioneering the use of these exciting new techniques to tell us exactly how and with whom we
are related – on a global scale.
"To people unfamiliar with these concepts, it is amazing to discover just how closely related all the peoples
of the earth really are," says Dr. Scott Woodward, a leading DNA research expert, co-founder and director of
SMGF. "Our goal is to be able to take any two people in the world, sit them down and tell them in a very real
way exactly how they're related."
